Bishop Dr. Kelvin Leavy was born in Greenville, Mississippi. Having received his vision from God, Bishop Leavy obediently fulfilled his calling as Founder and Senior Pastor of Judah Temple of Praise Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee. His vision and responsibility in alignment with Judah is to birth, develop, train, empower, and establish righteous leaders and followers to fight and win the wars of everyday life, thereby ensuring hope and faith in God, a walk with God, and most importantly a complete relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Graduating with a B.S. in Agriculture Education & Economics from Mississippi State University, it is no surprise that Bishop Leavy has an insightful aptitude for growing and cultivating ministry. Bishop Leavy continued to follow his passion for God’s word and attended Emmanuel Theology Seminary,
receiving a Masters in Divinity and a Doctorate in Theology. By the grace of God, Bishop Leavy, along with Judah, were able to launch a community development corporation. This focuses on providing resources to the local community in the areas of math, science, and music. This has also created a platform for Judah Temple of Praise to open its first Music Academy program specializing in strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Through this corporation, an educational tutoring program has also been birthed. Throughout the years, Bishop Leavy has been invested in making sure that our youth both inside and outside the church walls are afforded opportunities to help them succeed in life. Every year, Bishop Leavy along with the Education department, award scholarships to the graduating high shool students. He has also participated in Community Health Awareness events such as the Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis walks here in Nashville, Tennessee.
Behind every great man of God is a loving and supporting wife and family. Bishop Kelvin Leavy is married to the beautiful Lady Chonta Leavy, and they share four wonderful children; Kierra, Kelvin, Joshua, and Isaac. Bishop Leavy enjoys spending time with his family, his amazing grandkids, and traveling with his wife.
